Penn Yan stained glass window

Stained Glass Mural
Reinstalled After 39 Years

This 4' x 18' stained glass mural was created by James O'Hara, one of the second generation artists and nephew of the founder, William Pike who started Pike Stained Glass Studios in 1908.

James researched local historic buildings and other important historic features, and created graphic representations of them for each of the three murals he designed for the Columbia Bank branches in Penn Yan, Honeoye Falls and Fulton, New York. This mural was installed at the Columbia Bank branch in Penn Yan in 1979.

It remained on display there until it was transferred to the Yates County Chamber of Commerce office in 1995. After being stored at the Chamber office for 22 years, the Bank of the Finger Lakes acquired it and it is now installed in the lobby of their office at 100 Main Street in Penn Yan.

The mural was restored by Valerie O'Hara, James' daughter, with assistance from Alesha Hall, Cala Glatz, Meshari Alnouri and Kathy Schulze. David Young and Addam Deon framed and installed the mural in 2018.
